QuickCam is a brand name of one of the first web cameras. QuickCam's were initially made by Apple and the rights are currently held by Logitech. QuickCam's are faster than regular webcameras, despite the name!

The QuickCam name was made up by the marketing department at Connectix (the inventors, it's now owned by Logitech). The original inventor wanted to call them "Mac-camera," but they wanted something more universal for future use. It has nothing to do with the speed of the camera.

"QuickCam" does not mean that it is a faster camera operation system. Quickcam is known today as a webcam, and was named "QuickCam" due to being the first webcam-like device product.

QuickCam is a line of webcam products by Logitech, started in 1994. It is not a video camera, rather it plugs into your computer via a USB port. It can be used for video chat and the like.
