The initials ORD are the airport code for Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Sometimes there is an obvious relationship between the intials as in JFK is for JFK International Airport in Queens NY and sometimes it's just what was available. Airports get renamed on occasion.

The airport code "ORD" represents Chicago's O'hare International Airport. Airport codes don't easily correlate to their representive name. While Orlando, FL sounds better for ORD, their airport is actually MCO.
