Irregular contractions, called Braxton Hicks, are normal during pregnancy. There is nothing to worry about unless they are very frequent and close together. These contractions are your uterus preparing for the labor process. Think of it as strength training in preparation for the marathon that is called labor. Just try to relax.

Contractions that do not affect the cervix, either dilation or softening, are often called prodromal labor and it is very normal. Many women have what they cal "false labor" a lot while pregnant while others do not ever feel it. If you are concerned or have bloody show with the contractions you should talk to your doctor.
