It means that for whatever reason your body is not creating enough mature white blood cells. White blood cells are the cells in your body that fight infection. There are many causes for this including cancer, genetic or viral infection. See your doctor

Low neutrophils and low lymphocytes could be a sign of an infection such as a virus or stomach flu, but these levels are also indicative of more serious such as leukemia, HIV or a blood disorder. You would need to see a doctor for more tests for a more comprehensive diagnosis.

Neutrophils and lymphocytes are two types of white blood cells. The actual cause behind the lowered white blood cell count can vary from autoimmune disorders to cancer to anemia to things that are completely benign. The consequences of the low counts is that you are more prone to infections.
