what to do

Question by  Xbox305 (9)

What does it mean when my Toyota Sienna misfires?

This happens quite frequently.

Answer by  thelostone (1457)

This can be caused by several things that you can check. First check the sparkplugs and wires for excessive wear. If these check out fine check to the distributor cap to make sure it doesn't have a lot of corrosion on it. If that doesn't solve the problem its probably a fuel or air supply problem.

It means one or more spark plugs are bad. Replace the spark plugs and that should solve the problem. If not then change the coil packs.

Misfiring in your car can be due to dirt in fuel, clogged carburattor, bad electrical conduction leading to wrong firing and clogged exhaust.

This means that your engine is not running at the optimal condition. For instance, it is not running on all cyclinders or it is running horribly, making noises, stuttering. It is most likely time for a tune up.

It could be because the car needs new spark plugs. Also, the gas you are using may need to be a higher octane.

This could mean a lot of things. More than likely the engine needs a tune up and possibly new plugs.

You could have filled up with bad gas. If you are getting to higher mileage, you might need to replace your spark plugs which can be a common cause of mis-fires. You may also have a bad spark plug wire or a plugged fuel injector that is causing one of the cylinders to not work at 100%.

When was the last time it had a tune up? Old plugs and wires(if equiped) can casue misfiring as well as problems with the fuel system. If a cylider is getting to much fuel and is fouling the plug it will casue it to misfire. I would personally start with plugs.

When a Toyota Sienna misfires, a variety of issues can occur in the motor, such as: the loss of compression which can decrease the performance and fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Other causes can include damaged spark plugs. I hope this helps.
