your cat shows sorrow or fear. she may see some scary animal bigger than her or maybe smell something that isn't good or have a bad vibes that scare her off. try to get him out and point out what she is afraid of and figure it out with your cat

Hissing is normally a sign that something or someone is invading the cat's personal space. Hiding is the cat's way of saying it is afraid.

Cats hiss and hide when they are frightened. The hissing is meant to make them look more fierce, and frighten away whatever is bothering them, the hiding is an attempt to find safety.
