This happens all the time.

There is a short caused by a faulty dashboard switch, pinched wire harness, faulty headlight relay in the engine compartment. Some cars have a dusk sensor may be obstructed/faulty

This could be caused by a number of reasons depending on what type of car this is happening on. First guess is that the car has a light sensor found in most Lincolns and Cadillacs, as well with other cars. The sensor automatically turns on the headlights when running if it senses darkness such as in a tunnel.

This means you have a bad headlight switch or you have a short in the wiring. I would have a mechanic check it out.

Some newer cars have a sensor that will turn the headlights on automatically if its dark. This can also happen if you drive through a tunnel or dark area.

Well unless you have automatic headlights then it sounds like the switch or wiring is messed up.I would have a shop check it out for you.

This either means that you have wires crossed or that you have a short in your wiring somewhere within your vehicle. First, make sure that your auto lights are off.

This most likely means you either have a bad battery or a bad connection on your battery, And potentially means you might need to replace a fuse.

Some cars have a auto head light on setting that is on the on/off switch. If your cars auto on/off is off then it could be a faulty relay switch under the hood in the electric switch box.
