What does it mean if I am 5 weeks pregnant and there is no sac?

if you are five weeks pregnant, than you are pregnant. If there is no sac in the uterus the medical people will then look in your body to see if the sac is someplace else -- most often this will happen in a fallopian tube or on your ovary, but sacs can be found anywhere inside the abdomen.

Possibly. The sac is usually seen via sonogram around 5-6 weeks. If a second sonogram shows no sac, it could be either you were never pregnant, or the pregnancy has occurred elsewhere, such as the fallopian tubes, which is called an ectopic pregnancy. These are highly dangerous and require removal via surgery.

Five weeks is very early to be determining anything other than a positive for pregnancy. If your doctor is attempting an ultrasound at this early date, there may be more to it. It is not unsual that the sac is not yet visible.

Five weeks is still pretty early to be able to see something on an ultrasound, especially if you are not entirely sure of your conception date. It could be that you actually got pregnant later than you thought.

Five weeks in an incredible short time to know that answer. Only your doctor would be able to determine that after he has done an examination. Not all women develop in the same time frame.

Five weeks is extremely early for an ultrasound to determine for certain whether a pregnancy is viable. The sac might not necessarily be seen at this point. It is possible that you are not pregnant, but embryo development varies during very early pregnancy. An ultrasound at 6-7 weeks is more conclusive.
