What does it mean if he asked me out and then took it back?

It may just mean that he had a scheduling conflict. Worse, it could mean that he's indecisive or possibly involved with somebody else.

If he offered no explanation at all, there are most likely three possibilities. First is that he got back with an ex-girlfriend. Second is that he met someone else. Third is that he found out something about your past he didn't like. It's probably best to move on unless he offers a good explanation.

Who knows what he feels, but this behavior suggests that he might be self-centered rather than thinking about the feelings of others. There may be much better fish out there besides this one.

It means he wanted to date you then for some reason, could be friends, could be that he as drunk originally, he is taking it back. I'd stay away.
