What does a slash mean in math?

+6

Answer by  Deus (86)

In math, a slash can denote several things: 1. Division. Example: 25/5=5. 2. Fractions. Example: 25/5... Which is basically the same thing as division... A slash can be confusing at times, as one can mess up what's in the numerator (the top part) and the denominator (bottom part)...

Usually you use a slash to say that something is divided by something, e.g. 6 / 3 is meaning 6 divided by 3, result: 2
