Necrotic tissue will be black and often covered in pus or discharge. The tissue will be very foul smelling and painful for the cat. Your cat will not be using the paw and will probably have a decreased appetite and decreased energy level.

A necrotic cat paw usually appears as a blackening of the pad beneath their paw. It is often a byproduct to complications arising from de-clawing, or injuries that cut through the pads of their feet. As it is dead tissue, a visit to the veterinarian is recommended.

A necrotic cat paw has dead or rotten tissue usually at the site of a serious wound and injury or as a result of a declawing procedure that has gone very badly. The affected paw will likely be painful and swollen to the touch.

not only does it start to look green and black, with skin slothing off, but there will be a scent that goes with it. It is the stench of rotting meat. have you ever left meat in the fridge too long?

The cat will probably favor the other paw and not walk on it as much. It will start to lose hair and darken.
