It has religious significance in that Jesus is part of the Trinity and died at age 33. 3 and 33 put together make 333 combined, which is GOD.

Many people believe that 666 is "the number of the beast" and is therefore associated with evil. As a result, there are several different versions of bumper stickers and T-shirts that say "333 - I'm only half evil. " This, of course comes from the fact that 333 is one half of 666.
