What do you recommend for replacing a Preway firebox?

The Preway firebox could be replaced with a free standing wood burner. Or It can be converted into a pellet stove. Another good idea would be to just use it as decoration and have a gas or electric furnace installed. I myself would use it as decoration and show it off why guests come over.

You could just take it out and put a freestanding wood-burning stove in it's place.You wouldn't have to dismantle anything that way.

If you place a firebox on top on the Preway it will trap pockets of air and smoke up the house.

I bought a Preway because it was said to be the best back in 1983. I am presently getting my chase rebuilt and the pipe looks good on the outside.
