The requirements may be different in every state, but in general, you need a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing to become a neonatal nurse. You can obain specialized training for neonatal care from your employer or from additional studies in a Master's program. A Master of Science in Nursing is typically a two-year commitment.

Initially the first thing you need to do is get your nursing degree. If possible get licensed as an RN. Then you would need to be certified in neonatal care.

You must first earn a nursing degree, then get special training in the care of newborns. A four-year nursing degree followed by graduate work as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred.

In order to be a neonatal nurse, one must be a registered nurse (RN). This requires either an associate or bachelor's degree. The latter would likely mean more career opportunities.
