Carefully evaluate the area for infection. Though painful, you can often use an antibiotic cream to treat the redness and swelling. You may need to carefully pull out the hairs that have grown in, using sterilized tweezers. If you do so, clean the area to be plucked with rubbing alcohol prior to tweezing and apply antibiotic cream after.

Hold a hot compress against the area where ingrown hairs are. Do this for ten minutes three times a day. It softens skin and will help hair work itself out.

An ingrown hair at the bikini line can be relieved by using hot moist compresses or soaking in a hot bath. The water in the tub should be as hot as can be tolerated and one should soak the area as long as possible, then dry and apply antibacterial ointment and a bandage to prevent further irritation from panties.

I usually squeeze out the stuff inside the ingrown hair on my bikini line and then I make sure to clean it really well after wards. The after that I always wear boxer briefs for a couple of days because I find women's underwear to just irritate it more while men's do not.

Wear looser fitting clothing. If you wear clothing that is tight against the hair follicles, the hair will grow inward instead of out.
