What do you do for cataracts in elderly people?

I don't know about surgery.

Typically, they will use lasers to cut out all of the cataracts. If left untreated they will cover the eye and most likely result in total loss of sight. The surgery is usually not too serious, afterwards they will have to wear some blackout lenses while the eyes heal for 1 to 2 weeks.

Your Eye doctor will most likely tell you to get the cataract surgery done to remove the cataracts in your eye.

If cataract is sufficiently developed, it should be removed by surgery. The patient can go home the same day after the surgery. If surgery is not advised, eyedrops are available.
