In any infection, there's an absolute need of antibiotics, and you should visit the doctor before it causes deformation to the ear.

It is usually caused by a piercing. Clean the area with alcohol pad, you can mix salt about 1/8 of a teaspoon with about a cup of warm water and set it on your ear about two times a day. Use a antibiotic cream to stop it from getting an infection.

Cartilage ear infections are difficult to treat because there is little blood supply to the area. The infection should be treated with an antibiotic and if bad enough IV antibiotics.

If you have any kind of ear infection, then you should go to a doctor and get antibiotics. A doctor will be able to prescribe the correct medication to help the infection go away.

If antibotics are not helping it you may need to talk to your doctor about doing a surgery to remove the cartilage.
