The bare essentials are a litter box with good litter, cat food, a dish for food and a dish for water. To keep your new cat from tearing up your furniture, you should also get a scratching post. Toys to keep your cat busy and happy are great too.

One of the main things to get is a scratch post with catnip they love it and will not scratch your furniture. A toy with catnip is ideal, do not spend on bedding cats sleep anywhere.

Cats are good at looking after themselves, so all you need is a bowl for food, a bowl for water and at least in the early stages a litter tray. Cat toys won't go a miss either.

You need to get a litter box and put it somehwere easy to use for awhile. You need food and food and water dishes. Toys for the kitty would be nice. A collar is very important in case the kitty gets outside. A small box to sleep in.
