Start with the Dachshund Club of America to learn about breed and health issues. Find an experienced mentor. Get best AKC registered dogs/genes you can. And find a good vet!

Responsible breeding requires time/research/effor. It is not a 'fun way to make decent money'. It takes a lot of work and if you actually look after the animals properly you won't turn much profit. The only way to make decent money is to become a puppy mill which is cruel and can get you in trouble with the Humane Society.

We bred our male and female daschunds once, but because our female was so depressed when we sold all the puppies we decided not to try it again. It isn't right to put her through that emotional rollercoaster for some monetary gain. The puppies were weaned and given to good homes.
