Robins are very dependent and will try to be hand fed all their lives. The best thing to do is to take the robin to a local wildlife rehab. There an expert can teach it the skills it's parents would have normally taught it to survive. If you release it without these skills, it will not survice.

The robin needs to be able to feed itself. It is important to limit the human contact and provide food that it has to work for.

It is very likely that no matter what you try, the robin will not survive. baby birds are very fragile and easily picked apart without the mothers protection

If the robin has become accustomed to being fed, and has lost the instict to seek out food, then it will not survive. It needs to be retrained to seek it's own food before being released. There are special training places that can do this, check with your local Aviary and see what they say.
