What do I need to know about hooking up the muffler to the headers without catalytic converters on a Ford Explorer?

It's a 1994.

This is a fairly broad question becomes there are many different models of your type of car. I would either consult a mechanic personally, or refer to your user manual.

Make sure the muffler and pipes will fit the 1994 Explorer. There are kits specifically for this application. All you need is a wrench and socket to complete the repair.

Well the main thing you need to know that is that it is illegal for you to run vehicle of that year without a catalytic converter in place. It is not only bad for the environment but it can cause issues with the engine. Aftermarket converters are cheap and they do not reduce performance.

The muffler and pipes have to be able to fit this explorer. A catalytic converter for the year of this car is a must required to have, its an illegal act due to the fact that it is harmful to the environment and can cause engine problems. Avoid this problem, go to a shop buy a catalytic converter at reasonable price.
