You won't be able to grow an avocado tree outside in the ground in Oklahoma, but you could try growing it indoors. Just be sure to follow all of the care tips and you should do well.

Your USDA hardiness zone is 6-7, so you will have to check your temps. Even the most hardy avocado will not do well in cold, and cannot take a freeze. However, you can grow avocado very well as a container plant, and move if cold hits. This plant grows easily.

Plant avocado trees in the spring or fall. Do not fertilize the soil as avocado roots are sensitive to burn. Plant where they will receive full sun.

Avacado will do well inside as well as outside with a sunny window but they have to be brought in if it gets too cold. They don't like to be repotted so start it in a good sized pot. It is a tree and leaves will fall off the botto of it.
