Sometimes babies just cry and there is no soothing them. If you have tried all the regular stuff: feeding, changing, swaddling, swinging, and they still continue to cry, sometimes you just need to walk away for a few minutes and decompress. Never hit or shake a baby.

Lay the baby face down across your lap and gently, but firmly, pat the back with one hand and the bottom with the other. This will relieve trapped gas.

You can take your baby to the doctor or the hospital. Your baby may have colic or your baby could be in some kind of pain. Depending on the age of your baby, your baby might be teething.

One of the hardest things to learn as a new parent is that sometimes babies cry for no reason. If otherwise healthy and cared for, it's probably just hot/grumpy.
