What do I do about my 5 year old who has mononucleosis?

Make sure he or she gets alot of rest and takes antibotics. Keep an eye out for strep throat that may develop.

Keep your child away from other kids until he is on medication and is no longer contagious. A doctor will prescribe medicine, but mono can take a long time to get better. Let your child get plenty of rest and try to keep him quiet while he recovers, that will make the recovery go faster.

Try and keep him or hear as inactive as you can, do not allow them to rough house. Let them get plenty of rest, and give them pop cicles for their throat. If they stop eating go to the emergency room.

Plenty of bed rest is required. Avoid strains like playing in the yards, heavy work etc. , Take antibiotics adviced by the physicians. Always gargle with salt water of sore throat.
