car repairs

Question by  Hoffman (22)

What do I do about my 1998 Cadillac Seville that is overheating?

Answer by  Allstar (2071)

GM vehicles that age have problems with their coolant. Open the radiator cap and see if it looks like mud. If it does, have the radiator, radiator hoses and thermostat replaced. If the coolant is bright orange, try replacing the coolant, and maybe the thermostat. If that doesn't work, you should have the dealer look at it.

The best thing to do is to make sure you have coolant in the resevoir. If you do you can drain the system and install new coolant and antifreeze mix. If your car has never been flushed it is probably time because it is a 1998 and it could be the problem.

First check your radiator fluid to make sure its full. If this is not it it is more then likely your thermostat. It is a cheap part to fix.
