Hives are caused by a high amount of histamine being created in your system. You should take an antihistamine or consider determining the source of your hives.

Hives are normally caused by an allergic reaction. Minimizing contact with the allergen will help limit getting hives. Antihistamines can help when hives are present.

It's uncommon to get hives on the face as they are usually more common on the torso. First try Benadryl, which is an antihistamine. There are other creams available over the counter but if you don't have success, you may need to go to your doctor for injections of epinephrine.
