What countries have mandatory military service?

Is this something the US should look into?

Israel and Russia do. The US shouldn't look into it. I am currently serving in the Army, and I am serving with an all volunteer force. We all signed up to be here and no one is serving against their will. If we were making people serve, the pride that comes along with it would be gone.

Many of them do, some examples include both allies like Greece, South Korea, and Israel, and those who are not allied such as North Korea. Right now the military is an all volunteer force, meaning everyone decided to join. Having people drafted or conscripted might lower morale or esprit de corps. A possibility, but not recommended.
