Corrupted drivers or registries. These sorts of errors are usually atypical of some form of virus, or perhaps you even accidentally deleted an important file.

Do not attempt to fix it. Instead, run a virus scan. "hall.DLL" is a commonly known virus, disguised as a system config file. Seek the help of a computer technician.

There can be two reasons for this error, a damaged hal. dll or DLL file which might have been moved or deleted from the location. Damage in the hard drive or missing or damaged boot file can also cause this error. Some ways you can solve the error is either restart the computer. Or check proper boot order in BIOS

It is most likely a corrupted file from your installation CD being scratched, or at worst, you've gotten a virus. It's best to attempt a second install, and if the file is still corrupted to attempt to download it manually.

An error like this can have several causes. One of them happens when windows hasn't fully loaded or it could be that the hal.dll has been damaged or become corrupted. The hal.dll could also have been deleted or moved from its proper location. It could also be a missing or damaged i file or a damaged hard disk.
