What could cause a crackling noise from the speakers of a bmw?

Crackling sound of speakers often occur due to any electrical leakage or the diaphragm of your speaker might have worn out. Check your battery connections for any leakage and check any wires touching the metal parts of your car.

If it's just one speaker the most likely source is a loose speaker wire. If it is more then one speaker it is likely is a loose power connection.

It sounds light you have an electrical problem. You speaker may be failing or you have some type of loose connection.

It look like having bad connection at the speakers. They will connect and disconnect probably. Sometimes they will produce a single loud'thump'. Check for the connections to the connectors. Tighten and replace connectors at the required place will solve this problem.
