What could be wrong if my computer shuts off and restarts itself?

Look around in your BIOS. There must be a setting somewhere that tells the computer to power on automatically when the power comes back on after an electrical shortage. Tell your computer to stay off in this situation. It's a useful option when you use your computer as a server though it seems to be more of a hassle.

Your power supply is a very likely culprit in this manner. I'd recommend testing your computer with a different power supply and seeing if you experience this same problem. The other possibility is the temperature from your processor is possibly getting too high and is set to shutdown or restart when a threshold has been met.

If your Computer shuts Off and restarts,below listed are the predictable issues 1. Power supply issue. Please take look at your SMPS if it functions normally 2. Please also check it the heat in fans is huge & also check if you have recently new hardware,RAM memory and also check motherboard

Try downloading an antivirus or sypware remover. It sounds like you have some sort of virus that is causing your computer to automatically restart.
