What could be up with my mini Aussie who does not like noise?

Despite the basic nature of specific breeds, each dog has its own personality. Yours sounds like he is timid and easily upset. Some dogs hate storms, other can't handle the noise of fireworks. Talk to your veterinarian about what options are best to help ease your dog's nerves.

I think most Australian Shepherds have some level of noise phobia. Some of them just react to certain sounds while others will have issues with any loud and sudden sound.

Why your mini Aussie is afraid of noise might be because of abuse. Pound dogs are more apt to have this problem. Or if the dog had a previous owner, that might be a cause.
