Many things could keep color from coming through from your DVD player. Most likely of problems would be a damaged cable or connection. Depending on how it is connected it could be a matter of a bent pen or two, or some loose wiring within the player itself or the television.

There are two color standards: NTSC and PAL. If your TV is incompatible with both standards then you should configure your DVD player to output either NTSC or PAL.

Bad cables or loose connections could be at fault. It could also be that something has gone awry inside of your DVD player.

Its due to incorrect color system setting. Try changing the color Mode of the DVD from Menu of it or from the TV (like PAL/NTSC/Auto) Ensure both DVD and TV color system is unique. Better choose Auto from the DVD player.

Check your cables. Sometimes if either your red/white/yellow cable comes out, then instead there being no picture you can get a black and white picture. Or if you switched the two colors from where they are supposed to be plugged into that can happen.

The most likely is that there is a problem with the cord that connects your DVD player to your television. It could also be the individual DVD that you are using. To troubleshoot, try changing things one by one until you find the error - eg. try a different DVD, try a different cord, make the TV has color, etc.

If you are using component, check the red and blue cables coming into or out of the dvd player. If not, you might want to try and replace/repair it.
