First, has there been a change in the dog's food or feeding habits? Some dogs will react quickly to a new variety of dog food with loosen stools. A stool sample dropped off at your local vet may rule out intestinal parasites, which are easily treated with antibiotics.

thin feces could be caused by worms of some sort. Anothwer likely reason is because you have switched dog food and the body is adjusting. Also too much water will cause this.

Have you recently changed brand of food, or given the dog table scraps? Sometimes a sudden dietary change could cause diarrhea. If your pet is not acting ill, that may be the cause. If your pet seems to be ill, check with a vet, possibly bring along a stool sample.

Thin feces indicates either malnutrition or some kind of digestive problem. You should take your dog to a vet as soon as possible and have it diagnosed, because digestive problems can be very painful for your pup.
