What could be causing Saturn Ion Electric steering problems?

My Saturn Ion is having steering problems.

Unit low on power steering fluid or the power is faulted or there an actual problem with the unit itself.

It could be the electronic motor, sensors, or control module. check the voltage of each unit. Check the fuses. Another item to check is your emission system. Verify it is functioning properly. This too can cause electric steering issues. You can also contact the dealer or Saturn to verify that there isn't any recalls.

This is a know problem with the Saturn electric steering. It is either the computer that controls the system or other electric component like the motor. Some folks have had good results from replacing the two fuses under the hood so try that.

Most likely it is the control module that controls the steering. This control module most likely pertains to other aspects of the car also.

sounds like your car might qualify for the recent GM recall due to hard steering problems in their electric steering equipped cars. Check with your local GM dealer.

the dealer needs to look at it because it could be a sensor or something. also, there could be a recall on this car.the dealer should have a scanner to look at it.
