If the pain is sharp or stabbing in nature, this can be a sign of appendicitis. This is a serious medical condition that must be taken care of immediately, because if the appendix bursts, harmful toxins can spill into your blood stream. If you are having sharp pain in that area go to the hospital immediately.

Pain on the lower right side of the abdomen could be caused by appendicitis. An infection of the appendix is a potentially serious condition. The organ can become inflamed and can cause general abdominal pain, especially on the right side. If left untreated, the appendix can rupture, resulting in sepsis. Consult a medical professional.

It could be your appendix if the pain is on the lower right side and if it is near the hip or lower on a female it could be cause by an ovarian cyst, endometriosis or other female reproductive issue.

The right side of the abdomen contains the liver and gall bladder. If your pain is sharp and intense you may have gallstones. Without additional symptoms such as changes in your digestive system or fever or change in skin color it is difficult to diagnose this type of pain without imaging tests.

The appendix is located in the lower right abdomen. If the area is getting more tender and painful seek medical attention. Prior to that if you've been exercising try rest. If you've been sitting too long in an office try walking around. Also try to make sure your bowels are evacuated or empty.
