your pain would best be fixed by going to your doctor. This problem could be more than just muscle or tendon tension, which ususally causes discomfort in this particular region due to common stresses. It is possible that this pain is being caused by a is located soft cartiledge from your shoulder. Please seek a doctor.

This sounds like it could be tension in your muscles. It could also be you over stretched reaching for something or maybe even picking something up or lifting it over your head.

You could have pulled some muscles either by lifting something. Another cause of this could be a repetitive strain motion. Think back to two weeks ago and see if you did anything unusual or if you have started a new task that requires you to do the same motion over and over again.

I think your pain is a bad pillow or sleeping funny in bed. Try a heating pad that should help!

You might have strained your neck or turned it a certain way. You might also be sleeing incorrectly or using the wrong pillow.

A pinched nerve is the most likely cause. Your neck may be compressed and therefore pressing on a nerve, which will cause the pain. It could also be related to your heart. Arterial blockage can cause pain and is usually a precursor to heart attacks or other heart problems. A blocked artery can cause pain if blood isn't moving properly.

The pains along the sides of the neck and accross the breasbone may be due to infections. You could have travelled long in sunlight without holding umberallas or wearing cap to protect. Otherwise you could have gone out for walk in the morning snow falls. This types of activities mainly brings such type of pains.
