You may have thrown the little joints where the rib meets the sternum out of whack. A Chiropractor can help manipulate them back into place.

Popping in sternum is not a medical condition unless there is a pain, swelling or limited mobility along with the cracking. Popping occur spontaneously with movements like stretching hands or breathing deeply. Sometimes stress may cause popping sound and breast bone pain. Some other causes are trauma, arthritis, costochondritis etc.

People with this condition usually report a previous injury, or improperly performed massage. A licensed chiropractor could adjust it if you like. You could also try joint nutrients like gelatin.

Nonstop popping in the sternum if accompanied by pain, inflammation, and swelling could be due to fracture. Otherwise it's due to the movement from the cartilage in the chest.
