The powerstroke likes to be warmed up and it is a cold natured motor. It likes the cold air going in and out but the motor likes itself to be hot. Or it could have something to do with voltage. Check the voltage and if that isnt it check the fuel injection.

Change fuel filters, check for proper fuel pressure. Clean and service air cleaner. Check for cracked or broken vacuum lines as well as any fuel leaks. Add injector cleaner to fuel and run several tanks with the additive. Make sure the additive is diesel compatible.

A common cause of these engines runnning problems are clogged fuel filters. I would start by changing the fuel filter (s) or water seperater filter if your truck has one.

It is likely a fuel problem. Change fuel filter, and air filter. The fuel lift pumps are known to fail as is the injector wiring harness located under valve cover.

Valve alignment, dirty fuel, dirty fuel filter, a number of things could cause this, but I would't chance the engine until I figured it out.

You might have a bad fuel injector. This is often caused by water getting in the fual tank. It is also possible that you have some burned wiring. I would suggest doing a buzz test. A buzz test is done with a scanner and sends a signal to each injector and can tell if you have an electrical problem.
