What could be causing my car to rough idle while I am at a stop.

When I come to a stop at a sign or traffic light my car sounds rough.

One common thing that could cause this would be faulty/worn down motor mounts. They can cause a rough idle and vibrations through out the car while at a complete stop. You can replace them yourself, but I would recommend having a mechanic do it for you.

This could be due to misfire in the cylinder. Change the plug coil for that cylinder then the car will run smoothly.

In a modern car, rough idle is almost always caused by one of three things. Either it needs a tune up, there is a small vacume leak, or the fuel injectors need cleaned. That is also the most likely order for the problems to occur. Especially if it has never had a tune-up.

It sounds as if it is time for a tune-up which is usually why a car has a rough idle. Cars need one at least once a year.
