Several different things could be causing the pain in you jaw depending on your age and where the pain is. It could be impacted wisdom teeth, a cavity, a cracked tooth,a broken jaw, even tiredness from chewing if you chew gum. Tight muscles in the neck can cause the pain as well.

This might be considered to be TMJ or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. I have this attributed to my teeth formation. I had my wisdom teeth removed and everything went normal.

1. You may have been grinding your teeth at night. 2. A cavity has created an abscess (infection) near the jawline.

Repeated chewing of any bubble gum or any eatable things such as nuts and ships which are a bit hard causes pain.
