Lifter noise is typically caused by improper clearance between the pushrods and rockers. You may need to replace them for excessive wear, and have a valve lash performed.

oil could be getting thin or dirty. it takes a few seconds after start up to get oil to lifters to stop the noise and any dirt or thinning would hinder the flow. higher mileage engines also have noise due to the lifter wear, oil treatment is sometimes used if replacing the lifters isnt an option.

Tapping or ticking noise can be caused by a whole range of engine problems--it may not be lifter noise. It can be anything from spark knock pistion slap, bad lifter, loose rocker, bent pushrod, or even a spun rod or main bearing. It is honestly best to have the car looked over by an automotive technician.
