Hawaii is an island; so while it part of a North American country, is not part of any continent. A continent is a large and continuous land mass and, with the possible of exception Eurasia, has little to do with political borders.

Hawaii is an island cluster in middle of the Pacific Ocean and is therefore not part of any continent. Politically Hawaii belongs to the US but geographically it is situated in Oceania.

Although it is very far out in the ocean, Hawaii is considered to be a part of the North American continent. It is one of the 50 US states.
