Oak Hardwood flooring is a popular choice in wood flooring and it has many options. If you are looking at a subtle base, then Oak - Blue Ridge or Oak - Durango or Oak - Fawn are good options. If you need it to be bright and attactive then Oak - Butterscotch or Oak - Dune will be fine.

If you are talking about stain I would suggest you leave it the natural color and cover it with polyeurathane and then a good coat of finishing wax. Oak will get darker as it ages and develop a rich color. IF you are talking about other items many things actually have oak colors such as white oak, red oak etc.

Color would depend on the size of the room or area. If it is a small room then use light or pastels. If you were to use darker colors/shades it would look small, dark and gloomy. If it's a larger area use medium tones, to keep it open and light.

I always like to take colors from nature to compliment an oak hardwood floor. Think of the colors you see in a field. Greens can range from soft to emerald. Browns look good in sand or honey colors. Keeping it light with dark accents usually brings out a room.

Since Oak is a lighter colored wood the possibilities are pretty much endless when choosing a stain color. You could go dark or light. However, most people tend to use a clear stain in order to show off the natural grain and color of the Oak wood.

A shade of yellow will go really well with oak floor. But get like a light shade of yellow, almost like a sunny type of yellow. It will bring out the dark richness of the floor and not take any of it away or make it blend awkwardly in with the house.
