To become an ophthalmologist one must first of all go to medical school (a study of physics, chemistry, genetics, biochemistry, pathology, anatomy and physiology, and human biology) and then a residency in ophthalmology (specialize yourself in this particular field, but also you need to have general knowledge in general medicine).
