Question by  PNE (24)

What causes toenails to crumble?

Mine are thick and then crumble when I try to trim them.

If your toenails crumble it could be because a lack of proper nutrition. Another reason could be that you have a toe or foot fungus which causes the thick nail as well as causing it to crumble.

It seems your nails are not strong and are weakening. Weakening of the nails is normally a sign that your body is lacking B vitamins. Increasing your B vitamin intake should help your nails get stronger.

Crumbling toenails is caused by a fungus and us called onychomyocosis. It requires prescription medscure. See a medical professional such as a podiatrist.

That could be caused from a number of things. it could be a fungal problem and if it is you may need to see a padiatrist and have them trim the toenials for you. It could also be something you are putting on your tonails or feet thats causing them to be thinck and brittle.
