What causes the bottom rot on tomatoes?

Tomatoes need to be elevated from the groud as they are growing. Too much moisture or pressure will cause them to spoil before they are picked.

Bottom rot on tomatoes is usually caused by excess heat. The heat reflecting off the ground can rot the fruit. They will also rot if the fruit is allowed to sit on the the ground. Direct contact with the ground is to be avoided. You can stake your plants to avoid this.
