If you're getting outbreaks of herpes that means you most likely have been infected with the virus. Just because they go away does not mean you're cured, it just means that particular outbreak is over. Herpes is forever. Go to the doctor, get medication and use condoms.

Herpes blisters are caused by contracting the Herpes Simplex virus. The blisters are a symptom of the disease, and only people who actually have Herpes get the blisters. The reason that they come and go is because Herpes is a virus; the virus is always present in your body, but its symptoms only manifest themselves during an outbreak.

Herpes is caused by a bacteria. The blisters are the outburst of the disease inflicted by the bacteria. They are not there all the time, because you probably treat it and then get it again.

Herpes blisters are a result of either herpes simplex I or II residing in your nervous system. This is a lifetime disorder and there is no cure, however, they do make suppresants so the symptoms are less frequent. There are also on the spot prescriptions that can help regulate an outbreaks.
