Brown spots on the whites of the eyes are specks of melatonin, the same pigment that causes freckles on the skin. Once they appear, they do not fade or disappear, but they do not need treatment unless a vision change occurs at the same time that the spot appears. You may prevent more spots by wearing sunglasses.

All eye color is determined genetically. Your genes determine how much melanin is present in your iris. More melanin means darker eyes. Some people carry genes that don't code for uniform melanin spread on the iris, and instead code for melanin clusters. This makes brown spots.

Melatonin deposits in the eyes gradually accumulate over time to form these "brown spots", which are not harmful and completely cosmetic. See an ophthalmologist if spots are accompanied with vision problems.

A brown spot on the eye could be a benign freckle or nevus. In order to do a proper diagnosis you would need to consult a Ophthalmologist.
