Some breeds of dogs like the Chihuahua and Pomeranian have naturally weepy eyes. This is because the tear ducts must emit a lot of moisture to keep the large eyes moist and clean. However, a dog food allergy can cause weepy eyes, as well as a blocked tear ducts.

Weepy eyes can be caused by a number of things. Some dogs just have the disposition of having water eyes due to it's breed. Or, the dog might have an allergy to something in it's diet. Though, it can also be an infection from something getting into the dogs eye. Though consult your vet before giving any medication.

The most common cause for weepy eyes is the same for dogs as it is for humans: allergies. Allergens such as dust and pollen can irritate the tissues surrounding a dogs' eyes. This can result in conjunctivitis, of which runny eyes is symptomatic. More serious conditions include discoid lupus and phemphigus; consult with your vet for a proper diagnosis.

The main cause of weepy eye in dogs is actually not a disease, it's allergies. Your dog is capable of getting seasonal allergies like humans do. It could also be allergic to something in your home. Bring him to your vet.

Weepy eyes in a dog can be caused by either a problem in the eyes or respiratory tract. An injury to the eye, or an infection in the eye can cause extra tears to be produced. A respiratory infection, either viral or bacterial, can cause discharge from the eyes.

There are two common diseases that cause weepy eyes. The worst is Entropion, is when either one or both eye lids roll into the cornea of the dog, causing irritation, discharge and watering of the eye(s). The other is Distichiasis, is when just the eye lash will grow on the inner/edge surface of the eyelid, rubbing on the cornea

The most common cause for weepy eyes in dogs is allergies and there are treatments you can get through your vet. Sometimes treatment is not necessary, just keeping the eyes clean will help keep your dog healthy. You should watch for eye infections and see the vet it if the dogs eyes seem irritated or sore.
