Animals shed their coats twice a year, in spring/summer and fall/winter. There is no way to stop this. Daily grooming with a wide tooth comb will cut down on shedding a great deal, especially during those times of year.

There are certain types of animals that do not shed their hair, but you can not stop one that already sheds. The best way is to brush the animal frequently to keep the hair from going everywhere.

I've always found that a tablespoon of vegetable oil mixed in with food daily really helps with shedding, and also gives an added shine to the coat.
